Before tax and fees, at a steady rate and a steady price. Rates on crypto platforms change and are not guaranteed, and the coin's price can fall by more than the interest earned. To add money every month, use the Crypto Investment Calculator.
Interest is added to your balance at the end of each period, so the next period earns interest on a larger amount.
Short answers on compound interest in crypto and on what this calculator assumes.
It is interest earned on your interest. Each time interest is paid it is added to your balance, so the next payment is worked out on a larger amount. Simple interest, by contrast, is always worked out on the starting amount only.
The yearly rate is divided by the number of compounding periods in a year, and the balance grows by that rate every period. Take ₹1,00,000 at 12% a year, compounded monthly for five years. That is 1% a month for 60 months, which gives ₹1,81,669.67. The interest is ₹81,669.67. Simple interest would give ₹60,000.00, so compounding adds ₹21,669.67.
APR is the yearly rate before compounding. APY is the rate you actually earn in a year once compounding is counted. A 12% APR compounded monthly is a 12.68% APY. This calculator takes the APR and shows the APY. If your platform quotes only an APY, enter it as the rate and choose yearly compounding.
Mainly from staking, lending and the earn or savings products some exchanges offer. Rewards are usually paid in the coin itself and are added to your balance daily, weekly or monthly. Rates change often and are not guaranteed, some products lock your coins for a set time, and a platform can fail, so the return shown here is never certain.
No. It assumes the price of the coin stays the same. When rewards are paid in the coin, the number of coins grows as shown, but their value in rupees also moves with the price. A fall in price can be larger than the interest you earn.
The Income Tax Department has not published dedicated guidance on staking rewards or interest paid in crypto. They are commonly treated as income from other sources, taxed at your slab rate on their rupee value on the day you receive them. Any profit when you later sell them is taxed at the flat 30%, plus cess. This calculator shows figures before tax, so check your own position with a tax professional.
