Sale value − amount invested − fees
This is profit before tax. Fees lower your real profit but are not deductible for tax, so the India Crypto Tax Calculator works from the buy and sell values only.
Five figures, all worked out from the numbers you enter.
Short answers on working out crypto profit, return and break-even.
Multiply the sell price by the quantity sold to get the sale value. Then subtract what you paid, which is the buy price multiplied by the same quantity, and any fees. If you bought 0.5 BTC at ₹25,00,000, sold at ₹32,00,000 and paid ₹5,000 in fees, the net profit is ₹16,00,000 − ₹12,50,000 − ₹5,000 = ₹3,45,000.
Return on investment, or ROI, is your net profit as a percentage of everything the trade cost you, which is the amount invested plus fees. A net profit of ₹3,45,000 on a total cost of ₹12,55,000 is a return of 27.49%.
It is the price per unit at which the sale exactly covers your total cost, so you make neither a profit nor a loss. The calculator divides the amount invested plus fees by the quantity. In the example above it is ₹25,10,000 per BTC.
No. It shows profit before tax. In India, profit from crypto is taxed at a flat 30% and 1% TDS is deducted from the sale value. Use the India Crypto Tax Calculator to see both for the same trade.
No. Only the cost of acquiring the asset can be deducted, so exchange and network fees do not reduce the profit that is taxed. That is why your taxable profit can be higher than the net profit shown here.
